Wines for the Greek meal Jan-23-2016, New York,NY (And the weather DID NOT stop us!)

A mid-year annual tasting of mostly frequent flyers, but the event stepped up over the years (ask Dan). We do have about 20-24 listed now, and we can grow up to about 30. I thought it would be nice to see some fellows from the wine side stepping in as well. Great Greek place, many bubbles and bubbles, and good times.

Postscript- mother nature limited the arrival, but 13 brave people made it through the obstacles. We served fewer wines than last year, but those were berserkerable wines, indeed!

Thank you to all who did everything possible to arrive. too bad the governor closed us out…

It’s an amazing list of wines, considering it’s a bunch of frequent flyers. [whistle.gif]

The majority of the food is fish.

Bumping it up… who else wants to join us at Ithaka on UES for a great Greek meal and lots of good bubbles? (plus other stuff…)

Might be interested. Will know if I can make it closer to the date.

Still few seats available if you’d like to join your 25+ best friends for an excellent Greek meal with lots of good wine. champagne.gif champagne.gif .gif

Erez, Did you know that there are more than a few Berserkers that are Flyertalkers? [wink.gif] I’ve kept their identity a secret to protect the innocent.

Our 2 Flyertalk wine dinners (held in January and June, with 24+ attendees) are very relaxing. Talk of miles, points, and believe it or not, wine. We’re not all expert like so many of you, but we can still hold our own. I’d say that while not everything is a 95 pointer, just about everything poured is (in spirit).

FYI bump….We don’t let the weather stop us, and keep a good tasting going. [cheers.gif]
Our Florida visitors arrived, the Alaska visitors arrived, Boston force arrived…so the question is… y’all local people would not join us?!? [dance-clap.gif]

Some of the starter bubbles would include:

White
2002 Pierre Paillard Champagne Brut Millésimé Grand Cru (Champagne, Bouzy)
2010 Piollot Champagne Champs Rayés Extra Brut (Champagne)
2010 Piollot Champagne Cuvée Val Colas Robin Extra Brut (Champagne)
NV Billecart-Salmon Champagne Brut Sous Bois (Champagne)
NV Cuve Des Hospitaliers Crémant d’Alsace (Alsace, Crémant d’Alsace)
NV Vilmart Grand Cellier Permier Cru
NV Andre Jacquart Blanc de Blanc Brut Experience(Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Champagne)
NV Andre Jacquart Mesnil Experience Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru (Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Champagne)

Rosé
2004 Moët & Chandon Champagne Grand Vintage Brut Rosé (Champagne)
2010 Louis Roederer Champagne Brut Rosé (Champagne)

That list is Berserkerable. Are you sure there are only 2 of us attending? neener

Those Flyertalkers are starting to know their stuff. deadhorse
