Still going strong, I see. I have happy memories of the very first one at your place in Guerneville.

Hi Michael…

Wow, yeah… 12 years ago in my backyard… that place got flooded in 2005/2006, so I moved to higher ground…Although the winery we had it at in 2010 did not have any drainage, so we called it “Pinot IN the River”…

I think the inaugural Guerneville POTR was the first event KB ever did, and I ended up with a 2000 KB magnum somehow…

Downtown Healdsburg is a lot more civilized…

I definitely remember the first year. I got to attend the dinner as a guest of my wife and the Mackenzie agency. Lots of SSU wine business students got to go as well (I was one at the time). Then there was the year it was “Pinot in the River” (2010) and correct me if I’m wrong but since its been in Healdsburg the drought started…

I will be there with a few wines and at least one thing under the table for any berserkers in attendance.

I think it was kind cool and wet in 2011 (not on the festival day), but then with one exception (Christmas of last year, when the town flooded for a day), it seems like it hasn’t really rained since then…

It was fun. I returned a couple of times but nothing like the first one. It was KB’s first outing I think. Fun meeting the guys and others like James MacPhail, Ross Halleck, Andrew Vingniello, Dick Shea, and the entire entourage from Papapiertro Perry. All of them were very new to making wine at the time. If I remember correctly, Dick Shea was only selling grapes and not making wine then but his grapes sure made some great wines for others.

All of that is true, we were all beginners! Now look at the KB & PP Folks etc… big time legends now…

See you all tomorrow in Healdsburg!
