New York, NY, August 8, 2015- CFischer meets Erez and Dan and drinks good juice :)

A friend of Dan and mine is coming to town on Saturday, August 8. We’d greet him on arrival with some good juice and great dinner. The chef will prepare some off menu special from the three restaurants they own, lots of meats, fish, other goodies; special appetizers to starts, multiple desserts to finish, and main dish in the middle, of course. (Sat with the owner yesterday to work the details of the menu and we’ll get a follow up later this week.)

Location: Virage @ East Village
Time: 6:30pm~
Current Attendance List (11):
Cfischer
Dan+1
Erez + 2 or 3
J a y H a c k +1
MH (on the other side)
AM (on the other side)
ME (on the other side)

Theme: Good juice, great juice and bubbly juice (the visitor is a big champagne collector).

To make sure our guest is happy, I’d probably pull a '98 Gosset or other goodies. We also plan to have at least one flight of selected Sonoma Chards (as a tribute to the last Sonoma tour)

Sounds like fun, Erez, wish I could join. I am glued to the vineyard until after harvest. Then I will start to travel a bit again.

Erez,

I have an idea for a taste off. I expect to bring a 2012 Myriad Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III
or a 2008 Lewelling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Wight. I wonder (out loud) how one of these bottles would taste against an**

EMH** Special Selection?? [whistle.gif]

Wine list updated in the posts below

I personally feel if you are going to taste wines competively, they should be of the same vintage. Unless, of course, you are doing a vertical of one producer in order to rank vintages.

Dan,

If you’d bring the '08 I’d see if I can pull '08 EMH [cheers.gif]

Y’all et al-

Who else is joining us in Greeting Cfischer and having some good ‘juice’?

Done.

This sounds like the kind of event with wine that I like. I could force myself to come and bring something. I am way too brain dead to figure this out. Here’s a bunch of Cali Cabs. Pick one of these and unless it screws up a vertical, I’ll bring it. Sorry, I left out a few, including the EMH and the stuff like Scarecrow.

Great having you join us, Jay. [cheers.gif]
On the '08 ‘horizontal’, I think 2008 Kamen Estate Cabernet Sauvignon or 2008 Outpost Cabernet Sauvignon True Vineyard are great choices (especiall the outpost true which I’m curious about but I did see your notes on '08 Kamen on CT. So, hard choice) . If we move out of the horizontal, then the '07 ACV reserve looks good. There are many other good options on your list, and I’d let Dan give his input as well

To sum- I’m certain that anything you’d bring would be great champagne.gif

I defer to my friend from my hometown. I trust him. [worship.gif]

Assume Rebecca will come also since it’s the weekend.

Fixed above, and great she joins us [cheers.gif]

The tentative goal is to finish our chards and viognier by the time we finish the fish and/or enter the pasta ‘era’. Bubbles will be served at any given point in time.

Any dietary restrictions, etc. let me know.

So, who else is joining us? champagne.gif

Is there room for another haggler from Westchester?

Sure there is! [cheers.gif] great that you can join. Let me know what you are planning on and of any food/dietary restrictions. I keep working with the chefs on the menu. We’d probably add more options to expand the ‘first world problems’ champagne.gif

FYI- I updated the menu in the above post

Thanks, but I cannot commit just yet…Will let you know a day before.

Thanks

So what’s the theme here? I’ve got to figure out what to bring.

Theme? Christian meets Erez and Dan and Drinks good juice

Looks like you guys will have some fun, enjoy! Could argue that any Rose flight without something from Vogelzang vineyard in SB can’t be called a battle [grin.gif].

I might think about giving the Cuilleron a little bit of air beforehand, maybe 1 hr slow-ox?

Look forward to reading the report!

Mike

You nuts. That’s two per person and I haven’t even posted yet. I will bring the 2008 Outpost True and I will let Rebecca pick another.

Oh, and the Scholium is probably 18.2 % ABV, SO IT COUNTS AS 1.5 bottles.
