A heads-up for folks that aren’t on the Heirloom mailing list. We went to the Ceritas dinner they put on last year and it was really enjoyable, with verticals of both Porter-Bass Chard and Escarpa Pinot, as well as nicely matched courses. From yesterdays Heirloom email:
Tickets are also now available for a five course dinner, the following Sunday evening the 22nd, with Phoebe Bass and John Raytek and their extraordinary Ceritas wines. I opened a very fine '08 Ceritas Chardonnay ‘Porter-Bass’ last night and a very wise man guessed, without knowing what it was, that it was from the famous Charmes vineyard in Meursault and made by a top producer.
Those of you who love great classically-styled chardonnays and pinot noirs won’t want to miss this dinner. We’ll be serving, among other things, the 2005 Porter-Bass Chardonnay, which was the first Ceritas wine ever made.
