Vinous (Galloni) 93 pts. - Ample, broad and intense, the 2011 Barbaresco Ronchi is also quite a bit darker than the straight Barbaresco. A host of dark red cherry, smoke, game, plums, leather and licorice are backed up by a sense of vertical power that gives the wine its explosive energy. As always, the Ronchi is a bit wild, but some of the angular contours that are often present have been softened by the warmth of the vintage. This brooding, intense Barbaresco needs time to fully come together, but it is impressive all the same.
