Non-stick pan recommendations

I haven’t bought new pans in years. My current 10" non-stick has basically lost its non-stick surface after more years than I can recall. So time to buy some new ones.

I’m looking for a new 10" and 12" non-stick pans.

I have no idea who makes good ones and who doesn’t these days so any help is appreciated. That said, I don’t need a $500 pan, LOL. Just something good for daily house use.

Lodge cast iron. The best non-stick pan in existence.

LOL, I know, I know. I have cast iron already though. Just looking for the normal non-stick to replace with.

I view non-stick pans as disposable and don’t spend much money on them. I’ve been happy with Calphalon picked up cheap at Marshall’s, and they’ve held up very well.

nice weight. Not so expensive you feel bad about buying a new one every couple of years.

I’ve been buying Vollrath pans in various sizes from WebRestautantStore for the last few go-rounds, which, as Charlie says, is just how it goes with non-stick. Use and toss after they get worn down.

I use the All-Clad pans and have been happy with them

So go kinda cheap? I like that idea! And the amazon prime recs seem perfect since I can just order them easily. Thanks!

Scanpan, ceramic coating, no PTFA.

Two-piece set at Sur La Table, $99.96.

PTFA?? Can you elaborate please? Not familiar…I know I’ve probably been living in a cave for not, hah!

I think he meant PTFE which is Polytetrafluoroethylene which is teflon.

Is Teflon bad now?

Absolutely. Either of those should last you a couple years at least, then toss and replace.

We have this at home: https://www.greenpan.us/
It’s ceramic as well. I think we got ours at Target.

Well, there is some evidence that it can be carcinogenic when it starts to break down which it will do at high temps - 450-500º. And a related compound, PFOA is VERY carcinogenic and though it’s use has been discontinued by most manufacturers it is present in the tissue of something like 98% of humans due to it’s nearly infinite persistence in the environment.

Better living through chemistry! Especially halogens!

T-fal sells a good pan at a great price.

Sweethome did a review recently

I’ve got the 12" T-fal and while I don’t use it much it has been great

Owned a few of the T-fal pans and they do perform nicely. After about two years the 12 inch skillet warped on the bottom. Picked up the OXO Good Grips pan last year and it has been a solid performer: Amazon.com

Yeah the current wisdom is definitely to toss the non stick unit every year or two. I recommend ceramics like the other guys they hold up better. I have cast and enameled too, but a non stick is very handy.
