Strawberries, home grown

about 10 varieties, 45 plants, “harvest” a couple a day. Would need 450 plants to get a pint. They are delicious, especially the white and the Alpine.

450 plants for a pint???

Seems like very low yield. Are you overpruning? Sounds like you might end up with Parkerized berries.

I was exaggerating–my yields are low so far.

nobody else growing strawberries?

Look out for worms

yeah–tobacco worms devastated my heirlooms years ago. Fortunately I am not letting fish near my berry plants.

Becoming almost a daily pick now.

I tried for a few years but never got yields. Size, taste, worthwhile so I bailed .

A few years back, I picked up a few plants at a reputable nursery where they had a variety that had been bred for the rainy Western WA climate. While they flourished, they have next to no flavor. I might give up. Our raspberries, on the other hand, have been amazing. I think I’ll try a different variety before throwing in the towel altogether.
