Where can I find real truffle oil in Chicago and what can I expect to pay for it?

I’m looking for the real deal and none of the synthetic garbage. I’m looking to use it as a simple glaze for various fish dishes. Anyone have a ballpark on prices? Thanks!

Been using this recently, change the way I eat baked potatoes and other dishes.

Don’t bother. Even the ones with bits of real truffle in them are (to my knowledge) almost always made in labs and contain the chemicals as well. The aroma of truffles is not stable and does not last, even if you use a lot of it.

If you want a truffle experience, buy a good truffle at the right season and dream about it the rest of the year.

Good call. I never realized how adulterated the stuff actually was. [shock.gif]

Beat me to it. Huge +1

+1 on the no truffle oil but if you insist and for similar ingredient searches, Spice House on Wells is my go to at all times.

I prefer truffle salt, don’t know if it’s any better but it seems like it is.

Usually truffle salt is made by storing a truffle in salt which soaks up the aromas so yes, it’s better.
