Tel Aviv

Any restaurant recommendations?

Robert, Google might be your friend, but you might also try out one or two Israeli newspapers for some ideas; you might need to subscribe (at least to Ha’aretz, where the late Daniel Rogov was the long time restaurant reviewer.) Both Ha’aretz and the Jerusalem Post have English language editions.

Was there in Jan.

Oasis was really good. http://oasistlv.co.il/?page_id=533

Abu Hassan is reputed as best hummus in the world. Not going to argue that.

Tasting Room is a really cool underground wine bar. Great glass selection of Israeli wines.

The Imperial is a world-class cocktail bar.

Had dinner last night at new place called Claro. Very good food and an excellent wine list. Beautiful space.

Drank a 95 Nikolaihof Vinotek that was less than retail in the U.S. and a great bottle of 2013 Schafer Frohlich Rosé

Made it to Abu Hassan and it is definitely the best Hummus I have ever had. Also want to Dr Shakshuka and was a little underwhelmed by the Shakshuka but it is definitely worth trying.

Dinner last night at Herbert Samuel was fantastic and they allow free corkage.

I was introduced to an amazing winebar and store by friends in the wine business called Gioconda - fantastic selection and wonderful people:

I am going to Taizu (Asian cuisine) for lunch - this place is highly recommended.

I am also told Miznon (Gourmet Pitas) is a must try.
