Flank Steak - What's your favorite marinade?

Thanks.

Sambal
Sesame oil
Soy
Agave nectar
Lime juice
Scallion
Ginger

Definitely stronger asian inspired flavors but takes great to flank steak or chicken (especially thighs).

Dales

I use the following

Olive oil
Teriyaki
Honey
Garlic powder
Ground ginger
Ground dry mustard
Dried onions

Kalbi

Dijon Mustard
Soy Sauce
Whipping Cream
Thyme
Minced Ginger Root
Lots of Pepper

olive oil
shallots
garlic
rosemary

Puréed in a blender to form a paste. Wipe paste off before grilling.

EVOO
Scallions
Lime Juice

Sometimes I add Soy Sauce and fresh Ginger

Couple of suggestions:

Mexican themed:
-Chipotles in adobo (2 chipotles and 1-2 TBSP adobo sauce)
-1/4 cup cilantro
-2 TBSP canola oil
-1 TBSP lime juice
-2 tsp chile powder (or chipotle or guajillo powder)

Asian inspired:
-3 TBSP low sodium soy sauce
-4 TBSP sesame oil
-1 TBSP minced ginger
-1 stalk lemongrass (outer leaves pealed off and chopped into small pieces)
-1 TBSP rice wine vinegar

For both marinades, poke flank steak several times with a fork on both sides. Rub marinade all over steak on both sides. Seal in a plastic bag and marinate for at least 4 hours but not more than 24 (the acid in the marinade can start to turn the steak mushy if you leave it on much more than 24 hours). When ready to grill, wipe excess marinade off

Flank steak and a fresh home-made chimichurri are a match made in heaven as far as I’m concerned.

3 days in fridge. Steak marinates in a bottle of Wishbone Italian dressing. Never fails to amaze, shockingly enough.

Try that with whole tuna steaks. OMFG!

I basically do this with portobello mushrooms for a few hours before grilling and I have to admit I am equally amazed at how great it comes out!

I hate to say it, but I love the Sioux Z Wow marinade. Used to always make my own, but love this brand.

Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Balsamic Vinegar

Hmm. Have heard this before. Inspired. Just got off couch after watching AZ beat Ohio to put this together. Guess dinner on Wednesday is now planned.

Did you grill, sear and roast…?

Am I alone here? A good quality flank steak cooked properly needs no marinade or marination.

yeah, i feel like i’m in the twilight zone here with folks recommending dousing a good piece of meat in crap for several days.

Almost.

an island, always an island…ha!
