Can you suggest the best source(s) of fresh ahi tuna in the Twin City area? TIA.
http://www.coastalseafoods.com/ with two locations, one in Minneapolis and one in St. Paul would definitely be my first choice. Fall-back would be Lund’s, Byerly’s or Whole Foods.

Carlton…I have found excellent Ahi tuna at Costco in Nashville…perhaps worth a look there too…was about half the price of Whole Foods…used it to make poke.
Matt - is the Ahi still fresh by the time you get back to your house?
Yes unless weather doesn’t cooperate.
Depth chart:
First: Coastal
Second: Whole Foods
Third: Kowalski’s
Fourth: Lund’s/Byerly’s
For good fish, I either buy it at Coastal or I make something else.
Thanks, all!
I don’t shop at Kowalski’s, but I would swap Byerly’s with Whole Foods.
Lunds/Byerly’s, Kowalski’s, and Coborns are all supplied fish by The Fish Guys, so their products would be similar in quality. The Fish Guys also supply the Wedge Co-op.
Coastal Seafoods, in addition to their locations, supplies seafood to a handful of co-ops in town: Seward, Mississippi Market, Lakewinds, and Linden Hills.
I’m not sure where Whole Foods sources their seafood from, but it is probably not local.
