Butter....again?!

Hi all. I searched the forum a bit but looking for specific butter recommendations is difficult. Where do all of you butter berserkers find your fix? Thanks.

Chris

I haven’t really explored the world of special butters; my mainstays are unsalted Plugrá and Kerry Gold.

Echire, but I prefer the unpasteurised I buy in France.

I use nothing but Kate’s of Maine. I load up in Hannaford’s (which stretches down to NY state)…whenever I can. I like the unsalted and their buttermilk. http://www.kateshomemadebutter.com/

Re: buttermilk, based on an article in the NY Times less than two years ago, they are one of only 2-3 dairies in the US that make and sell “real” buttermilk. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/12/dining/buttermilk-often-maligned-begins-to-get-its-due.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
The rest sell cultured skim milk.

Kate’s is not particularly high in butterfat, unlike those European brands mentioned on this thread, though.

Though we actually use Lurpack here, there aren’t many choices!

I love Animal Farm butter but it is almost impossible to find/buy. They sell almost all of it to Thomas Keller for FL & Per Se

I’m kind of stuck with Kerry Gold too. I would love to find a more heavily pastured butter.

Steve, that butter is what I’m looking for. Too bad I probably won’t get my hands on it in Virginia.

I called and begged her once years ago; she sold me a few lbs, but shipping cost more than the butter! Great stuff.
