Can anyone give a recommendation for a weekday (Monday) Brunch place in Atlanta or ATL suburbs? TIA Mimomas and/or bloodymary’s a plus. champagne.gif

I’m unsure about alcohol service at some of these places and you might want to look at service time, etc… but enjoy.

Re: General Muir…I was down briefly a couple of weeks ago, helping my son settle back into college…via New Orleans. He showed me where he lived last semester, and General Muir was nearby. I looked into it while I was waiting for him , and it seemed very interesting, though I doubt I’ll be down again until 2016. Can you elaborate on your opinion of the place…it seemed to have all kinds of appealing good things to eat. including “good fries”…out of his budget, but…hey…

Stuart -

I have a client who lives somewhat close to TGM. I’m there quite often for lunch, occasionally for dinner, and even rarer for breakfast (due to when I actually get up and get over there, etc…)

You could help him out a bit…

uh…it doesn’t seem like it would go that far…and has expired, but…thanks for the idea.

what do you think/know of the food?

Stuart,

As I said, I’m there quite often so for the lunch menu I’ve had almost off of it. That menu doesn’t change that much (They are opening 2 new restaurants/food stands so they have been testing out new items). (Yalla and Fred’s Meat and Bread)

Per the dinner menu it changes fairly regularly. Yes, there are some mainstays but the entrees do change. Fresh products, well thought out menu, etc…

They do a fried chicken on Friday night that is killer.

Thanks, Michael…it also seems they make their own pastrami at the restaurant?

I believe that is correct…I will confirm with Todd when I’m in there next. Either way it is excellent.

I’m there next trip…whenever that is.

Thanks.

Also a fan of General Muir. Brunch at weekends are excellent, and I agree the fried chicken in a Matzoh crust is extraordinary; it’s a special on Fridays but you need to go in early.

I’m don’t frequent The General Muir quite as often as my buddy Bowden, but I’m there a good bit. Some pics from recent eats there for those who have not been:

Pastrami

Fried Chicken

Crazy chicken salad sandwich with pastrami and potato chips.

Poutine with pastrami

Damn good double stack cheeseburger

To add to Dennis’ photos…

This will be their cheesesteak at the new spot - Fred’s Meat and Bread

They have a “lunch” burger and a “dinner” burger. This the the dinner burger -

The turkey sandwich -

Turkey (really tasty and I’m not a turkey fan)

Pastrami -

Beautiful pix…especially the pastrami/poutine. (Time to cure a brisket for pastrami myself!)

Is it an Atlanta tradition to take photos of every dish?

Nice to see they seem to use cheeze wiz on the cheesesteak.

I will send my son this thread…and see if he begs for a gift certificate, since his budget won’t otherwise allow him to indulge. (He more’s a Buford? Road type anyway…but doesn’t have a car, so…)

Hard to believe that I’ve never ordered that turkey sandwich, as I’m a turkey fan.
Need to try that.
Craving that pastrami now.

Maybe not every dish… but some of us are geeky like that [cheers.gif]

Buford Highway.

Huge immigrant population and packed with great/amazing international food. Depending on where you go (it’s a long road) you can get great authentic Mexican, Chinese, or Vietnamese just to name a few.

Plenty more but here are some…

Pho Dai Lo 2 - http://www.yelp.com/biz/pho-dai-loi-atlanta
El Rey del Taco - http://www.taqueriaelreydeltaco.com/
Gu’s Bistro - http://www.gusbistro.com/
Chef Liu - http://www.yelp.com/biz/chef-liu-atlanta

Yes…I went to http://www.yelp.com/biz/la-pastorcita-atlanta when I dropped him off two weeks ago. It was quite good, but greasy and I’m not sure the place knew what I was trying to order. We tried to go to Gu’s, but it was Monday night, and it was closed. (He had been there before.)

The other fun place is the Gladys Knight fried chicken place. The chicken is brilliant: probably the best I have ever tasted, but the sides were mediocre.
