Top 5 restaurants in Atlanta?

I’ve got an allergy meeting in Atlanta in early November and will be there for 5 nights. Any suggestions on top 5 foodie restaurants near World Congress Center ? Thanks.

How close is “near” in terms of miles or time? Not that there isn’t some good stuff downtown, but I’d send you to Buckhead or Westside for a lot of my preferences.

I’ll be at the Omni by the World Congress Center. Optimist, 4th and Swift , Cakes and Ale, Miller Union all look like good candidates. Probably within a 20 minute cab ride from the Congress Center.

Mark, those are all good ones. You can add Bacchanalia, Park 75 (Chef’s tasting menu) and Barcelona if tapas appeals.

If you’re willing to travel up to Buckhead…Aria and St Cecelia would be on my list.

Here are my top 5 as of right now.

  1. Aria
  2. Woodfire Grill - Matt Weinstein is doing some amazing things here. Less elegant than Aria but the food is great.
  3. BoccaLupo - best pasta in town hands down. really a treat.
  4. Miller Union- I think the food here is really very good
  5. Park 75 - more elegant here

Restaurant Eugene
4th and Swift
Cakes and Ale
One Eared Stag

So many more very good ones.

I like Holeman and Finch public house for a rowdy dinner. They don’t accept reservations.

For steak, I like Chops and Bones.
Also Rathbun Steak.

Szechuan - Gu’s Bistro in Doraville

On and on.

Thanks, Don, Chad and Eric!

If I had 5 meals (In no order) and I’m assuming dinner only (no lunch, etc…)

Kimball House - Kimball House

Thanks, Michael. Yes, dinner only.

I absolutely love a place called Local 3. Definetly seek It out. Everything sourced locally. Very inventive.

Mark, I can just imagine the waiting staff asking your group if there are any allergies and you guys rattling off about 175 different ones they have never heard of.

Aria is excellent, and Bacchanalia, but the one I really loved was General Muir, and if you can go on a Friday, the fried chicken with a matzoh crust is amazing. If you decide to go, book early as it tends to disappear very quickly.

I’m staying near georgia tech at the courtyard hotel this week. any recs nearby for dinner?

Do you like pizza?
Or Chicken?

Antico Pizza or if you like chicken, Gio’s Chicken Amalfitano.
For elegant, I would suggest Park 75.
All of this is very close.

Thanks. I like fun food. A lot of good suggestions.

Relatively close (quick taxi) to midtown (on other side of highway) is the following -

Miller Union - http://www.millerunion.com/site/
The Optimist - http://theoptimistrestaurant.com/
Antico - http://littleitalia.com/
Varasano’s - http://www.varasanos.com/
Park 75 (Four Seasons) - Fine Dining Atlanta | Breakfast & Brunch Restaurant | Park 75
The Pig and the Pearl - (brand new, yet to go) - http://www.thepigandthepearl.com/

Thanks, Michael.

Michael is the guy Mark.

Along with John Liotta and a few of my other buddies, they have the real finger on the pulse of things.
They get out and about quite a bit.

Some great suggestions from Michael.

I would definitely put Umi in Buckhead in my top 5 after dining there tonight with my wife and kids.
Absolutely STUNNING meal. That place is hitting on all cylinders.

I love sushi. I’ll have to check out Umi
