I was reading in Vegetarian Times magazine that fish scales can be used for fining. This is a new one for me.
How widespread is this practice?
Never heard of it. They may have confused isinglass (swim bladder extract) with scales used for fining.
There are plenty of things that are used in wine that makes it not suitable for Vegetarians.
Fining is sooooo 1960s.
