RG, 420A or Gravesac for Chardonnay?

Anyone have experience/preference with either RG, 420A or Gravesac as a rootstock for Chardonnay? Soil is sandy-clay loam, well drained, but relatively acidic below the amended 2 foot horizon. There are 5 year old blocks of Pinot Noir on both RG and 420A on site that behave very nicely. Can I expect these rootstocks to perform similarly on site with Chardonnay?

Hi Jim

You say that RG and 420A do well at your site with Pinot, then Chardonnay will be fine. After growing Pinot, you will have a walk in the park with Chardonnay…

Good luck

Marcy

Thanks Marcy. Actually, my Pinot tends to behave relatively well (e.g., good sets, manageable disease pressure, etc.), so I feel fortunate. Bodes well for the Chard, I hope.
