Have you ever spent an evening in a wine cave?

“Have you ever spent an evening in a wine cave?”

That was the teaser for a sponsored piece on the SFGate website for jazz concerts inside a Napa Valley wine cave:

I had a good laugh since the evenings I’ve spent inside a wine cave have looked more like this:

The bottom photo is from Nicholson Ranch in Sonoma Valley, where I spent about a week in 2009 helping Bryan Kane to blend wines for his Vie and Sol Rouge labels and get them ready for bottling (they’ve since moved that part of their production to Treasure Island).

I suppose having wine in those wine caves would spoil the illusion. Animatronic displays would simply highlight the absurdity. Welcome to Napadisney v 9.3
