Selling Wine from a Keg

Been in Torino for the past 3 weeks for work, and in many retails locations, it is popular to sell wine directing from a Keg/Barrel into a wine bottle that is then corked.

What are the legal ramifications of the doing the same in the US. My thought is that if you were able to Cork it and slap a label on it, there wouldn’t be any issue.

Anyone have experience with this?

Craft brewers do it all the time in the States. Sell them as “growlers”. I think some wineries do it too on a limited basis.

Think I found the answer to my question. Yes, will the proper license. TTB affirmed in the spring.

Preston does this at their winery in Dry Creek. Only on Sundays, and for just one wine.

I remember they used to do this in NM in the early 90’s. You would pull up to a winery with your empty jugs, and just fill up from a spout on the wall. I think $2-3 / quart.
