Update for Ping's Seafood. Corkage is now officially $20/bottle but they've been nice about doing $10/bottle if you let them know beforehand that it's for a tasting and you're bringing a lot of bottles.
Ripe fruit isn't necessarily a flaw.

Little Frog, a newish French in UES, is charging $30 per. I've no restaurant review as we decided not to go due to another conflict.

Why must corkage be so unstable. So many restaurants seem to offer it with the back of their hand. Case in point, Benjamin Steakhouse:

Listed on Debottled as $42. Quoted $40 day prior by maître d'. Charged $45!?

Decent stems, typically indifferent steakhouse service. No limits but no magnums.

Mimi in the WVillage at $50 per bottle when I inquired during dinner 2 nights ago. We didn't byo and perused their smallish wine list that's on the expensive side, imo.

Delicious bistro food and good service, though.

Keens changed their corkage policy to have one bottle for 2 people. They were cool about 2 bottles for 3 people because they just changed the policy, but I doubt that will continue. Still a great place for BYO.

Atoboy, a newish Korean tapas restaurant in Flatiron, at $30 per bottle.

Decent stems and wine service, decanting options, and food is quite good, albeit in small portions.

Sarah Kirschbaum wrote:Very nice meal last night at Wallflower, a tiny restaurant in the Village, that is a sister to The Eddy. $30 corkage with proper, good quality stems and knowledgeable wine service. The owner and beverage director are wine lovers and conveyed that they encourage BYO and love to see people drinking great wine in the restaurant. Their wine and cocktail program are also taken seriously.

Sarah - Thank you for the recommendation on Wallflower! We were looking for a place to do an early dinner after a matinee and of course BYO. We ate there last night and loved it - the deviled egg appetizer and the trout over French lentils entrée was a big hit. It was quiet in NYC generally because of the snow so the restaurant wasn't packed which I'm sure was unusual for a Saturday night. Loved that they only charged us corkage on one of our bottles of wine but not sure that's the norm.

I was not charged for bringing one bottle at Cafe Centro on Saturday night. Located on the 46th Street side of Grand Central, it is quiet on Saturday night, closed Sunday. I saw a long table next to the gas fireplace that would be perfect for 10-12 people. Solid French/American cooking with an open kitchen. Creative desserts, too. Reminded me very much of the former Brasserie.

I ate there last month. If you're coming from work, there's a wine store across the street and slightly further west on 57th street. I thought they had reasonable prices, and a few wines that you would know.

A couple of newish Manhattan restaurants and the corkage that I was charged recently.

Fiaschetteria Pistoia, a true-to-region Tuscan restaurant in the East Village - $20 per bottle, good stemware
https://www.fiaschetteriapistoia.com/

Little Alley, for very good Shanghainese foods in Murray Hill - $20 per bottle, good stemware

Few suggestions from a few tried & tested places that are not on the list:

1. Bhatti - Best Indian Kebabs in town. Excellent north indian food. No corkage fee. They have added newer burgundy stems, but safe to bring your own. Friendly service, reservations recommended.

http://www.bhattinyc.com/

2. Poke - No corkage fee, sushi spot in UES. Bring your own stems. Well priced, cash only. Very good quality. No reservations. Good setting. Popular with the locals.

http://pokesushinyc.com/

3. ABA turkish - No corkage fee. Very good Turkish spot on 57th and 8th. Bring your own stems. Little crowded but excellent food. Reservations recommended.
