Lamb Chops?

Hi Ladies and Gents,

Making Lamb Chops today.
What type of wine is recommended?

Depends on the prep. I like Syrah, CDP, and similar wines with lamb.

I grilled some tonight and paired with 2007 Le Vieux Donjon Châteauneuf-du-Pape. For my palate, a Syrah may have been better.

If it had 4 legs, I always pick a Cab - but that’s because Cabs are what I know. rolleyes

Thanks for the feedback went with Syrah.

Good choice. Would you like to elaborate and say which Syrah and how it went with the chops? Any seasoning and method of cooking the meat?

Ended up buying a rack from Costco.

Inch thick cuts. Seasoned with minced garlic / salt / pepper.
Ended up broiling on each side 5mins and served.

Opened the only Syrah I had in the house

2010 Keplinger Kingpin Rows. Dinner was great =)

That’s what it is all about, David. Looking forward to our roast leg of lamb today. Herbs, lemon and garlic. Oh, to pick the wines.

That’s pretty much how we prepared ours. A paste of fresh rosemary, oregano, garlic, kosher salt, fresh black pepper and lemon juice with EVOO. Grilled medium rare. Absolutely delicious!

The herby scent of a cab franc works nicely with lamb, especially if rosemary is used in preparation.

We are going with 2007 Shane ‘The Unknown’ Syrah with same from 2008 if we are thirsty. Picked up at the 2014 Falltacular silent auction.
