Buying Whiskey in NYC

hey -

trying to get a sense for the best places in NYC to buy whiskey/bourbon. any help is appreciated!

What kind of bourbon are you looking for Matt?

you know, this was actually for a friend of mine that just moved to the city from San Francisco. he was looking for a place to buy “delicious whiskey’s and bourbons”. don’t really know his tastes all that well, but will ask.

I was happily surprised to find Wild Turkey Rare Breed for around $36 at Garnet a couple of weekends ago.

I would say start with Astor, they usually have the full selection of what is available and some solid barrel picks for bourbon. They actually take the time to write decent notes on their website too.
