TN: 1995 Clynelish: Signatory: 17 years old single cask

A Signatory (for The Whisky Exchange) cask strength single cask bottling at 56.2%, aged 17 years old. One of 622 bottles, matured in a refill sherry butt. Mid amber, a smoky and beeswax laden nose with some dried fruit. The sparky mouthfeel is more alcoholic than I expected, especially given the sherry cask ageing. Dried fruit with alcohol and a hint of sweetness. I was underwhelmed, even with the addition of a few drops of mineral water.

Bummer. I’ve enjoyed the two or three Clynelish bottlings I’ve tasted.

Nicos, you stated you added mineral water to this. I’m guessing that probably didn’t help because mineral water would add unwanted flavors and carbonation to the whisky. Regular/still water is what most people add to their whisky.

James, when I said I added mineral water, I was referring to the still variety.
