TN: Ledaig - 21 years old cask strength

TN: Ledaig - 21 years old cask strength

A Cadenheads small batch bottling at a cask strength of 53.6%, one of 534 bottles. Distilled in 1992, bottled in 2014. The nose gives me saline and coast, quite distinct. The full throttle palate is concentrated and builds up power in my mouth. Pure, unadulterated slightly peated island power. Like it a lot. Would have loved it if the cask had been sherry.

Thanks for the notes, Nicos!

I had Ledaig once about twelve years ago. The bartender/server at a great “tavern” downtown had a glass proffered to me - free if I didn’t like it.* He knew that I loved Islay Scotch with strong, saline/iodine/mod. smokiness.

*It was NOT 21 years old.

I did not like it :frowning:

I wonder if it was just that night, or if I would like it now?

Drew, you may want to give it another go. I would certainly recommend the current release of the 18 year old from the distillery, or younger bottlings from independent bottlers like Signatory.
