Anyone ever had Karuizawa?

What’s all the fuss about? [popcorn.gif]

It’s great but tough to justify the crazy prices.

I’ve had a few Zawas. With the exception of one cask that was funky and one of the best sherried malts I’ve had, the other bottles have all struck me as really good, but none blew me away - there are a bunch of bottles I’d easily rank over them. With Karuizawa, the price is more a function of rarity than super amazing quality. Zawa is full hype-train and not worth the astronomical sums it commands, IMO.

Agreed. We’ve had quite a few, and see no reason to chase them.

Yup. I think Karuizawa is like Pappy Van Winkle. Chased because it is hard to find. There were a few on the table at the recent whisky gathering I attended. I don’t even know if they were opened, as I didn’t look for the bottles on the table.
