Growler Fill Policy --- State by State, Brewery by Brewery

Let’s get this list going. Breweries, organized by State.

Don’t want to rip their whole content, but it’s basically a google docs excel sheet.

Washington - blank growlers, different branded growlers, grenades - no one cares. Bring what you have and it gets filled.

NY is very laid back as well.

Oregon has very lax rules on growlers. Most (if not all) breweries will fill growlers, as will tap houses, many grocery stores (assorted Fred Meyers, New Seasons, Whole Foods, and Zupan’s), and a number of other establishments. Any growler can be used.

Many of these same places additionally have wine and cider on tap, and will fill growlers of these as well.

California is actually pretty lax as long as you bring in a blank growler. The brewery just needs to attach a label from the ttb that costs a few cents. Unfortunately too many breweries refuse to adapt and keep wanting to sell their crappy twist top growlers and make a few bucks. It sucks.

Minnesota is horrible - you have to have a growler from the brewery you are purchasing the growler from, or they won’t fill it. Absolutely kills the business for in-state Brewers. We are about 15 minutes from Wisconsin and usually will take the dogs on a Sunday run and swing by for some FFF Alpha King (her favorite beer) at least twice a month.

Well the thread does say brewery by brewery

You do have a point Counselor however if California’s law became more “lax” I may be able to fill a growler of Alpine (brewed by Green Flash) in the SF Bay Area now that kegs are showing up here without having to make a road trip [drinkers.gif]
