PSA: Some rare Single Malt Scotch at Zachys September Auction

Will let the images say it all:

damn

I sure hope Rudy didn’t like Scotch.

Some years ago there was a bit of a problem with a large parcel of Fine and Rare vintage Macallan. Whisky Magazine in an article written by Dave Broom claimed that some were fakes. After denials and foot dragging, Macallan did some diligence and testing and discovered that at least 100+ of the old vintage bottles that Macallan had purchased from ‘collectors’ for relabeling and resale as Fine and Rare vintage Macallan were indeed fakes. It was quite a kerfuffle.

Why is this in Wine Pimps? [scratch.gif]

cuz Jorge’s pimping his company’s auction would be my guess.

I notice that the pictured Macallan has an abv. of 48% — did Macallan really water-down these old whiskies, or is this the rare occasion when a cask strength bottling just happens to land smack-dab on an abv. to which distillers commonly water down?
