Scotch Food Matching

Berserkers,

Over in Wine Talk I posted food and Scotch porn of a brunch at Dragon Boat when Fred from Atlanta visited TO, Canada and one of the most amazing matches of the brunch was Glenfarclas 25 year old Scotch whisky with some amazing ginger scallion King crab. Totally and completely unexpected.

So’ze I gotta ask: what are your favorite Scotch and food pairings?

hard cheese (parmesean; aged gouda; reggiano; aged jack; etc. …)
citrus slices (esp. orange)
salted nuts
chocolate
fancy green olives
turkey
pork
pheasant

Popcorn, peanuts, Chex mix and what ever other salty item the bar offers. Once seated at our table for dinner, wine is opened.

Years ago in Paris at Senderens one of their courses was smoked salmon with a single malt and it was great. I’ve repeated it many times at home. It’s a winner.
