Do they put CRACK in Leffe?

We have at least 200 beers in a broad range of styles and MANY in the basic Belgian Blonde mold both actually Belgian and domestic. Yet for the second time today someone came in looking for Leffe (which we TRY to carry but AB doesn’t seem that enthused about keeping it in stock) and would not consider any other possibility. This rarely happens with any other full production beer (hard to source specialties are another matter).

What IS it that has so many addicted to a fairly mediocre example of its style? You’d think that once you got beyond Corona and Stella to something like that you’d be more open minded…

It’s one of the big importers who represents LEFFE, and in the Midwest and East Coast, you will find the beers next to Corona, Blue Moon etc. They are EVERYWHERE.

What bugs me is, an absolutely brilliant beer like DE KONINCK which is also represented by a major importing corporation is no where to be found. You can find trickles of it in certain markets, but there is no push by the importer to get the word out on a beer that absolutely dominates inside of Belgium and France.

I don’t get the attraction to the Leffe blonde. Now the Leffe brown is a different beast. Very tasty stuff.
