Mulling spices

We’re looking into putting together some mulling spice packets, and adding hot wine to our winter tastings
(We do it outside in a tent ! )

Any suggestions on recipe/vendor?

The shop I’m working in sells small cartons of Aspen Mulling spices that can be used in cider, wine and other things. The listed ingredients are: “Sugar, Dextrose, Extractives of Cinnamon, Clove, Annatto, Lemon, Orange & Nutmeg, & Caramel Color”.

We are currently using them with apple cider + some cranberry juice, but will probably do it with some wine closer to the holidays. The cider combo is pretty tasting and smells great.

I like crushed cinnamon stick (not ground cinnamon), whole cloves, whole allspice, and dried orange peel. Green cardamom is nice, too. Go easy on the cloves, or they’ll overpower everything else.
