TN: 2012 Celler de Capçanes Montsant Mas Donís Barrica - Pobega'd wine

2012 Celler de Capçanes Montsant Mas Donís Barrica (Old Vines) - Spain, Catalunya, Tarragona, Montsant (3/29/2014)
Pobega one for the team… It is stupid good qpr bottle. 91-92 Details are now typed from a regular keyboard:

Pobega’d this one, and tasted right away. The verdict while waiting for dinner… this is stupid good qpr (!) Hard to believe it is at the 10-11 a bottle. It’s getting better in the glass every 10-15 minutes.
This is a nice qpr with very nice medium finish. Nice full body, great fruity background. Very enjoyable and you do not really need to have an excuse to open this one at this price range. I agree with many notes from Pro reviewers on this wine, in particular, the blacker fruits and flowers on the nose. Being notably ‘less complicated’ taster, I would just say: a steal QPR. Wish I had more space for storage, but may just get few more to have available for a no-excuse needed day. (92 pts.)

PS- and thank you Craig B. for excellent service! champagne.gif
(Fair disclosure- got it along with a BD delivery. Even more fair disclosure- excellent service is an understatement! [cheers.gif] )

Nice note. Thanks!

I haven’t had the 2012, but for my tastes previous vintages have been just a cut above most of the ocean of professionally lauded, $9-$10 hearty Spanish reds.
I’ll look forward to trying the 2012.

I’ve had the '04 and '10. Liked both. Similar to your description.
