TN: 2011 Walter Scott La Combe Verte, Willamette Valley, Pinot Noir

I recently purchased one of the mystery Willamette Valley cases from Michael Alberty at Storyteller Wine and was most interested to try this wine, since fellow Berserker Andy Steinman, and his wife Susan, are now partners in the venture.

Brilliant magenta in the glass. The nose displays a red fruited youthful exuberance, while on the palate the flavor profile straddles the fence between black and red fruits. Moderate acidity provides lift and balance on the attack, with only the slightest hint of oak, giving way to fine grained tannins that provide a moderate finish. This is a very quaffable entry level Pinot that paired nicely with Jim & Nick’s slow smoked barbeque from Nashville. My wife loved it! It will be interesting to follow this, given time for all of the component pieces to integrate.
