Homemade Durand + 1977 Grivot CV

A hearty thank you to those who suggested this.

Pull-Tap + Ah-So = a very effective method for older corks.

The CV was a 1977, and provided some joy for such a shitey year. Very light color, clear, and browned noticeably after a while in the glass. The nose was, however, very beguiling. No great length, and more acid than fruit. Still, more than worthwhile for the nose.

Nicely done! I used a Durand made durand last night to crack a 69 Drouhin Mersault Perrieres. Surprisingly, the wine was still lovely. Hint of butterscotch to be sure, but decent acids and white fruit and citrus on the nose. Mineral and citrus palate, resolved finish. I have found the Durand to work wonders with older wines. [cheers.gif] P.S. Don’t go too much by the color of the wine in the photo - I used Hipstamatic to take the picture, it makes all colors darker and richer.

Hi Henry,

It seems like an interesting enough bottle. I had no idea that’s what Grivot’s label looked like in the days of yore! It is a dead ringer for current Hudelot-Noellat’s.
