TN: 2002 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

  • 2002 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru (8/22/2017)
Still evolving at glacial pace, showing primary red berry fruit and a youthful energy. A quick decant and the beautiful Chambolle silk covers the palate…bright wild berry fruits(cherry, raspberry, strawberry, currants) still with crunch and tartness, yet with subtle savoriness. Deep spices and florals are mesmerizing…dusty oak barrel, sandalwood, dried rose petals, licorice…with a faint hint of leather and sous bois as well. Wonderful lift and freshness of acidity, and a structure that will hold everything together for decades. Maybe still slightly a 1er now, but definitely GC quality with future age. A true pleasure to drink! +pts (94 pts.)
