Question regarding 05 Truchot. Did he make the wines?

Had my second bottle of 05 Truchot Chambolle Sentieres at a restaurant that wouldn’t let me take any home to age.

This was every bit as shut down and dark fruit in profile as the last one. Atypical for Truchot. I’m not sure if this is a function of vintage or if it’s possible that he was not very hands on in this last vintage?

Any insight?

Thanks in advance.

He did make the wines. They are more backward than normal. I’ve had the same experience with the 05’s.

Thanks Ryan. I haven’t had much Truchot but the fruit profile on this seemed much darker and less elegant than one would expect.

I opened a '05 Morey VV about a year ago, and it was coming along just fine.

Yes…he made them. What a vintage to “go out” with…

I haven’t opened any Truchot 1er or GC that were anywhere near ready, but it is true that the vintage is in opposition to the style of the domain in certain ways and I suspect it will be quite some time until we fully understand how this will influence the end result. -mark

He made the wines. They are still too young, even the Bourgogne rouge.

was going to open one. Not now, thanks.
