TN: 1985 Delas Hermitage "Marquise de la Tourette"

With lunch on 7/25/17
1985 Delas Hermitage “Marquise de la Tourette”
Exhibiting a medium ruby color, this nicely aged Hermitage is fully mature with a complex nose of smoked meat, dark fruits, and spice box. Medium-bodied with excellent balance and resolved tannins, it has a smooth texture and good length. While in no immediate danger of fading, it has clearly reached its peak and should be consumed over the near term. As the Brits would say, a very nice lunch wine. My score 89 points

ahem … ‘Luncheon’. One shouldn’t be so coarse as to abbreviate to mere ‘Lunch’ [wink.gif]

coarse?

The Marquis de la Tourette is the “lesser” of the Delas Hermitages but one I find offers good value. Never an Aha! wine nonetheless a workhorse which provides pleasure.

Thanks for the note Jay on your luncheon wine! [cheers.gif]
