TN: 2008 Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Noir La Bohème

  • 2008 Elk Cove Vineyards Pinot Noir La Bohème - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton (7/7/2017)
Coravin’d into a Pinot glass for 2 hours before sampling. Deeply colored. Showing no age. The aromas are both sweet and savory with roasted spices, black cherry skin and plum notes. Ethereal. The first palate impression is soft and somewhat viscous, showing real power and depth. Persistent flavors of black cherry, black plum and alpine herbs are focused with great balance and full body (best served a bit cool). Exceptional length and stamina, this is still a bit unyielding. 92 pts for now. No hurry here. 2019-2025. (92 pts.)

I find I prefer all my reds served “a bit cool” compared to what most people do…95% of the wines I open go in the decanter and the decanter goes strait into the fridge…especially Pinot. Glad you had a good bottle…
