TN: CasaRodena Viognier Colorado '16...(short/boring)

Tried this new wine from CasaRodena:

  1. CasaRodena Viognier Appellation Colorado (12.5%; www.CasaRodena.com) 2016: Med.yellow color w/ lots of tiny bubbles; rather attractive ripe pear/Viog light earthy bit honey/spicy nose; very soft/fat/underacid off-dry (0.6%-0.8%?) light ripe pear/Viog light spritz/refreshed w/ CP2/soda pop slight earthy rather vapid/watery flavor; very short off-dry somewhat watery/vapid light earthy/pear/Viog finish; too fat/underacid & the added/retained CO2 doesn’t save it; speaks quietly of Viog but too watery/vapid & too sweet/candied. $18.50 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. CasaRodena, located near Albuquerque, is generally one of the better NM producers. Run by JohnCalvin. I generally like their wines, especially the reds. But the degree of RS and lack of acidity made this one a big fail.
