TN: 2008 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers

  • 2008 Domaine Bruno Clair Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Lovely perfumes of raspberries, red cherries and violets, with Gevrey, feral notes, earth and cloves. Clean, crunchy, largely red berried fruit with some Gevrey wild berry. Also, dark chocolate, espresso and soil. Succulent 2008 acids. Real finesse and elegance. The silky texture and spherical tannins obscure the serious tannic structure (this is not a lean wine). A long, mineral finish. It is starting to drink well but, ideally, give it another two or three years at least. (93 pts.)

That sounds really good, Howard. I regret not purchasing more Bruno Clair wines before the prices shot up here a few years ago. A local restaurant once kept Clair’s Savigny-les-Beaune Dominode VV on its list and had a buy one bottle and get a second bottle free night. A few friends and I kept the restaurant’s inventory of that wine in check. Thank you for the good note.

Has anyone had any of Clair’s 2007’s recently? I think I have Dominode and CSJ.

Or 2006’s, I’ve got CSJ, Beze and Chambolle Musigny Les Veroilles.
