1969 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello Barolo - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo (6/26/2017)
Starts off really tight…all tart red fruits and balsamic. With air it blossoms. There are notes of black earth, blood, bitter chocolate, truffle and dried flowers. Sweet, jube-like fruit concentrates at the wine’s heart and all elements coexist beautifully with each other. It is complex, ethereal, resolved and has real presence and length. A majestic bottle.
