TN: 1985 Chevillon Nuits Vaucrains

Bricking throughout with orange at the rim. Intense and complex bouquet of damp earth, dark fruit, minerals, game and iron. The longer this sat in the glass, the more pronounced the iron and mineral notes. Aromatic fireworks. Powerful yet elegant, the taste of black cherries fill the mouth and leaves a lingering impression. Concentration and length are admirable. Tannins are fully resolved, and this evinces not a trace of rusticity. Benefitted from an hour in a decanter, and is fully mature with years to go.

Lucky guy to have '85 Burgundy. I am jealous!

Thanks for the note

You are on a tear, Peter. I enjoyed the note.

Thanks guys. Once upon a time older Burgundies were much more available than they are now, and at fair prices. I’ll continue to post notes on the '85s (and '78s) as I drink them.
