2006 Leflaive Pucelles

From an initial release purchase, this 750 bottle was in good shape. Nice golden color appropriate for an almost 11 year old 1er cru. Toasted nuts, good length with the only knock against it just maybe a bit less tension and verve that I associate with Leflaive and Pierre Morey. This has only been opened for an hour and a half so, as usual with good producers, this could develop further with more time. All in all a very good wine but not quite up to those very high standards that Leflaive can take you to.

Glad it showed in good condition, Jerry—maybe the vintage accounts for that lack of tension? 06 whites, the few I’ve had, have shown softer and sometimes silkier to me.

A bientot,

Mike

Sounds enjoyable. I’ve had poor luck with 2006 Leflaive.

Glad it showed well Jerry.

When released I found their 06s heavy, listless, indeed quite banal until this one in their hierarchy - it was pretty good - as were the higher wines…
