TN: 2005 Kistler McCrea Vineyard Chardonnay, Sonoma Mountain

Tasted on 5/26 at a local wine shop with a group of wine geeks.
2005 Kistler McCrea Vineyard Chardonnay, Sonoma Mountain
The 2005 Kistler McCrea retains a vibrant light gold color along with toast and tropical fruit notes in its expressive bouquet. Medium to full-bodied (14.1% alcohol) yet light on its feet, this smooth-textured wine is a stylish, full-flavored effort with plenty of life remaining. I’ve thought for a while that Kistler Chardonnays are at their best at 6-8 years but this one shows no signs of oxidation, premature or otherwise. My score - 93 points

Interesting to see this note as I had a 2005 Cuvee Catherine pinot last night. It reinforced the early drinking rule that you allude to. Nondescript wine that was almost certainly better 5 years ago.

2005 Kistler Durell Vineyard Chardonnay
Also in fine condition, medium straw color, lovely nose of toast, white slightly tropical fruit leading to a smooth-textured, ripe wine. The lengthy finish suggests the wine will drink well for some time to come but why gamble since at age 12 you’re playing with house money. my score - 93 points
