TN: 2004 Château La Tempérance (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc)

2004 Château La Tempérance - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc (4/19/2017)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 2 – 3 hours –
– 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot –

NOSE: smoky; rubber; smells a bit tart; shoe polish.

BODY: black-garnet color of medium-deep depth with bricking at the edges; medium to medium-full bodied.

TASTE: smoky; good ripeness for the vintage, but the fruit seems simultaneously rich/concentrated and hollow; good acidity; more purple fruits than red; hint of leather; no typical pencil lead; plum; this is a very nice wine for $15. My score may be a point or two generous.
