TN: 2011 Philippe Pacalet Gevrey-Chambertin

  • 2011 Philippe Pacalet Gevrey-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin (2/19/2017)
Popped and poured. Beautiful pale ruby, excellent clarity. On the nose it’s deep cranberry/raspberry, white pepper, and hints of mossy forest floor. With air a touch of wood and hints of spice come out. Deep and lengthy on the palate, way more on the red-fruited spectrum. Fantastic balance of ripeness and acidity keeps it fresh. Secondary hints of oak dust, black pepper, and rose petal. Still young but showing gorgeous finesse. The finish is long and gently tapers off. A lovely, soulful wine.
