2013 Matthiasson Ribolla Gialla Matthiasson Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley (2/18/2017)
Beautiful golden color leads to aromatics that focus on citrus zest, pear and hazelnuts. On the palate it is quite focused, with the citrus character dominating until a more savory and nutty finish. It’s a very lean wine (11.3% abv), and needs a bit more stuffing on the back end as its low alcohol manages to poke out if the wine warms up a bit. I do struggle with the value proposition at $40.
