Carrick Excelsior Pinot Noir 2010. Bannockburn, Central Otago

Opened way to early, needs another 5 years in the cellar [oops.gif]

Carrick Excelsior Pinot Noir 2010.

Very dense in colour, deep crimson through to dark ruby. Attractive floral aromas, savoury spices, cinnamon, coffee, toast, new oak, honey and mainly darker fruits. The palate is rich and concentrated with those dark fruit flavors of plum, dark cherry and macerated strawberries. There are also added complexities of truffles, mushrooms and spice, making this wine more savoury rather than fruity. Tannins are slightly course and persistent adding some astringency to the finish and interfering with the textural development of this wine for now. Acidity adds freshness and enlivens the palate. Still seems primary and tight, needs more time to mellow and to allow those tannins to better integrate
