A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. As I’ve been investigating Nebbiolo clones/biotypes/etc; I’ve taken an interest in Nebbiolo Rose. This is npt a clone/biotype of Nebbiolo (biotype Lampia), but a distinctly different variety (according the d’Agata). NebbRose is widely dissed in B/B for its very light color/lack of anthocynanins and inability to make a B/B that plays well in Monktown. It is grudgingly praised, in some quarters, for the perfume it shows.
Best I can tell, there is only one pure NebbRose made, the ElvioCogno Barbaresco Elena. I was interested in trying this Martenga because it is, according to d’Agata > 20% Nebb Rose. There was nothing in this wine I could pick out as different from any Nebb (biotype Lampia), but it was much more delicate & elegant and very perfumed from most Barbarescos. Lovely Nebb.
