TN: 2009 Domaine Georges Mugneret/Mugneret-Gibourg Bourgogne (France, Burgundy, Bourgogne)

2009 Domaine Georges Mugneret/Mugneret-Gibourg Bourgogne - France, Burgundy, Bourgogne (6/25/2016)
Seven years old, and this is splendid. It’s fully integrated, with wonderful balance of fruit, earth and structure. There is no reason to break this down into a grocery list of descriptors. It is just a beautiful wine to drink now and for the foreseeable future.

The sisters make a beautiful Bourgogne. And 2009 was kind to lesser appellations. (Though their Bourgogne could almost be classified as Vosne, so maybe not so lesser. )

Nice note.

Nice note, David. I like the beauty needs no more dissection approach here…
I feel compelled to give props to Fabrice Vigot who has grown the grapes for this cuvee in its entirety for decades (keeping half of the fruit to bottle himself).
Also a side note that the vines are being replanted in thirds, with the first third torn out after the 2015 harvest. There will be even less of it to go around moving forward.
Disclaimer, I import both producers.

It’s a good thing you say this in your post so you don’t get flamed. [wink.gif]
