I was storing my wine in a facility where all the wines were stored in one large room, instead of in separate lockers. One customer was
trying to move several boxes of his wine. He had the boxes on a hand truck, but instead of putting just three or four boxes on the hand
truck, he had a very tall stack that wasn’t stable. As he was moving the hand truck, the bottom of the hand truck caught the bottom edge
of one of the tables. This caused the top boxes on his hand truck to tip off, and of course they came crashing down on the table where my
wine was stored. Glass and wine go flying everywhere, and it’s a total mess.
As I sit down with him to tally the damages, I tell him that at least I have all my wine entered in Cellar Tracker so it won’t be that hard to
figure out which bottles were destroyed. Then I woke up.
I would have thought that your nightmare is monthly, when the credit card statement arrives,
unless you are like Jay Miller and use the credit card of someone else.
There’s a general storage facility in Washington, DC that also stores wine, I think in the temperature controlled, large room where fur coats are stored, so everyone’s wine, furs, etc. in one big room. Each time you visit your stash you have to pay for an escort, which makes sense, I guess, but it makes using their facility too expensive, so I don’t.
