2005 Quinta do Mourao Rio Bom Colheita - Portugal, Douro (11/24/2015)
60% Touriga Franca and 40% Touriga Nacional, Bottled June 2009, 9 months in French oak barrels the rest in stainless steel if I recall correctly, which is a really long time give this is a $14 wine. A combo of tart and dark fruit, light tannins, and oddly an espresso note that belies its 10 year age. No dips or drop-offs in this across the palate and finish. This is a pretty straight forward but pleasant wine, one that drinks above it’s price point and has aged quite well. That said, it is ready to drink and I don’t see any reason for any further long term aging.
